Colleen A. McGuire, MBA
Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Colleen brings 35+ years of business experience to our company as well as a passion for healthcare reform and a commitment to addressing the unmet needs of people with chronic diseases. Colleen has held senior P&L leadership positions in large public financial service companies and has worked as a consultant to executive leadership teams in large and small companies. In addition, Colleen was the Executive Director of the University of Connecticut’s Graduate Business Learning Center and was a lecturer in the Business School's Marketing and Management Departments. Colleen currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Chapter of Conscious Capitalism as well as on the Board of Directors, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. Colleen earned her MBA from Harvard Business School, Boston, MA.

Garry Welch,
Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Welch brings over thirty years of scientific research experience in chronic disease management to the company. Dr. Welch was previously Director of Behavioral Medicine Research at Baystate Health Systems and Research Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine. His extensive clinical research experience in chronic disease has focused on behavior change strategies for chronic disease management including providing proven strategies for medication management and digital health decision support tools for primary care. Prior to his 10 years at Baystate, Dr. Welch was a diabetes researcher at the Joslin Diabetes Center and Faculty at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Welch is a member of the American Diabetes Association's Behavioral Medicine and Psychology Professional Interest Group, has been a reviewer on National Institutes of Health (NIH) behavioral medicine scientific review panels, and is a journal reviewer for Diabetes Care and Diabetes Spectrum, both leading diabetes journals for diabetes clinicians and educators. Dr. Welch overseas the company's scientific activities including management of the clinical research teams, research compliance issues, data quality, analyses, and research dissemination efforts, and external medical strategic relationships. Dr. Welch received his Ph.D. (Psychology) from the Wellington School of Medicine, University of Otago, Wellington, New Zealand.

Sven Bursell,
Chief Digital Health Officer
Dr. Bursell PhD brings 30+ years and a wide range of clinical and business expertise to Silver Fern Healthcare. Dr. Bursell is an expert in low-light (non-mydriatic) digital imaging of human retina, telemedicine and ocular health in diabetes, retinal evaluation at massive scale, diabetes and cardiovascular disease management, and decision support for consumers and physicians. He was the Co-Founder of the Joslin Vision Network in Boston and was Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bursell also led the development of a web-based comprehensive disease management software application and low light (non-mydriatic) retinal cameras, and collaborated in the development of a mHealth application to provide lifestyle decision support to patients with diabetes. In addition, Dr. Sven was Professor of the Telehealth Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney, Australia, where he set strategic directions for the establishment of a comprehensive, remote diabetes and cardiovascular disease management telehealth solution for Aboriginal communities in Australia with the aim of decreasing the burden of chronic disease in these communities and integrating community health workers into the diabetes team.
